Rob: Hello everyone. Hi Feifei, how are you?

Feifei: I'm very well, Rob, thank you. 今天我們要學(xué)習(xí)哪個(gè)新潮短語(yǔ)？

Rob: Well, I'd like to introduce the phrase 'to hot-desk' and the idea behind hot-desking in modern offices.

Feifei: I know this one, Rob. To hot-desk 或者也可以說(shuō)成 hot-desking 是一種越來(lái)越流行的辦公方式。這種辦公方式最大的好處就是節(jié)省空間，對(duì)吧。

Rob: Yes, not like before where everyone had their own desk, in a hot-desking office there are certain number of desks and computers available for people to use, and anyone who needs them can use them.

Feifei: 不像以往的辦公室里，每人都有自己固定的辦公桌、電腦等等；在一個(gè) hot-desking 辦公室里會(huì)備有辦公桌和電腦，但都不固定專(zhuān)門(mén)給某人使用，誰(shuí)需要誰(shuí)就可以用。This way, companies can save space by reducing the overall number of desks it needs to provide because not everyone is at work every day.

Rob: Yes, throughout the year, there are always people on leave, away from the office or off sick. It's more common to see hot-desking in big organisations.

Feifei: 其實(shí)一年到頭，總會(huì)有休假的、出差的或病了的同事，如果每人一個(gè)桌子確實(shí)有時(shí)候會(huì)有些浪費(fèi)。不過(guò)目前大多數(shù)采用“無(wú)固定辦公桌”辦公方式的都是些大的公司和企業(yè)。

Rob: When you write 'to hot-desk', don't forget 'hot' and 'desk' needs to be hyphenated.

Feifei: 還要注意在書(shū)寫(xiě)的時(shí)候，動(dòng)詞 hot-desk 和它的名詞形式 hot-desking 之間有一個(gè)連字符；而用來(lái) hot-desk 的桌子在書(shū)寫(xiě)時(shí)則不用連字符 hot desk。
