Our canine companions come in many sizes, shapes and personalities, but they all seem to share a common sensitive trait.

我們的愛犬有各種各樣的大小、體型和性格，但它們似乎都有一個共同的敏感特征。

"She can sense that I'm stressed, so she gets more stressed."

"Many dog owners will tell you that their pets can sense their mood. But now,  there is some evidence to suggest that they can smell our psychological state. Can't you?"

This is a stress sniff test devised by scientists.

這是科學(xué)家們設(shè)計的一項 “壓力嗅探測試”。

Willing pet dogs, volunteered by their owners, were trained to nose through this canister line-up.

通過主人報名，寵物狗積極接受訓(xùn)練來嗅探這一排罐子。

Each can contains a sample of sweat or breath taken from a person either before or just after they had completed a difficult stress-inducing maths problem.

每個罐子里裝有一個人的汗水或呼吸樣本，樣本是在此人完成一道容易引起壓力的數(shù)學(xué)難題之前或之后采集的。

The task – sniff out a stressed person sample.

狗的任務(wù)是嗅出從有壓力的人身上采集的樣本。

The researchers say their findings could help in the training of service and therapy dogs – understanding exactly what human scent cues their noses can detect. But the researchers also 'sniffed out' one more reason why people feel so connected to their dogs.

研究人員表示，這個發(fā)現(xiàn)可以幫助訓(xùn)練服務(wù)犬和治療犬，途徑是準(zhǔn)確了解狗鼻子能嗅到哪些人類氣味。與此同時，研究人員也 “嗅出了” 人與狗如此親密的一個原因是狗能嗅出人的情緒。
